EMS

My Story
Growing up, I was no stranger to emergency medical situations. I witnessed firsthand how EMS professionals made a difference in critical moments, and that exposure planted a deep respect for the field within me. My first real taste of emergency response came as a teenager working at Vertex, a climbing gym, where I was responsible for handling minor injuries and ensuring climbers’ safety. That experience ignited my passion for emergency medicine—I loved the problem-solving, the fast-paced nature, and the ability to provide real help when it mattered most.
For years, I knew I wanted to pursue EMT certification, but between school, work, and other commitments, finding the right time was a challenge. Finally, during my senior year at Santa Clara University, I made it a priority. In the fall quarter, I enrolled in an intensive 8-week EMS course, officially embarking on my journey toward becoming an EMT.

The process was rigorous but incredibly rewarding. I studied and passed the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) exam, obtained my Alameda County license, and earned my ambulance driving certificate. But the real turning point came when I completed my first clinicals with a 911 company. Getting out in the field, assisting real patients, and working alongside experienced first responders deepened my love for EMS. Seeing the direct impact emergency care has on the community reinforced that this was more than just a certification—it was a calling.

Now, with my training and certifications complete, I’m excited to continue growing in the field, learning more about emergency medicine, and finding ways to integrate my knowledge of EMS into my broader professional journey. Whether in marketing, community health, or direct emergency response, my goal remains the same: to help people in meaningful ways when they need it most.
